Quilted Critters...

So...when we last left off i was headed to try and cut out the billion or so little 2.5 inch squares required to make 3 critters...well i think i finally have enough squares, only im not 100% sure...lol...

So next step, time for me to make a quilted rectangle of 6 by 5 squares...and then to cut out my rabbit patterns....also i need a back piece of fabric, to be cut to the same size at the bunny front...and i need a little red heart for each, which is about 2.5inch by 2 inch...i might write something on the hearts though, coz they look a little boring. hmmm....maybe the name of the person they are for...

Anyhow, i best go finish sewing up the squares to make quilted rectangles...oh and this is for chelsea - i couldnt find any grey fabric that looked nice, but im sure i could make one that looks kist as emo using different pattened black fabrics :) unless there are some other colors your interested in?!?!

Im off...back later...

Quilting?!?!?!?!

Hey,

So now we are up to my current project...

I want so badly to be able to make a quilt, however i dont have the cash to do so at the moment, which kind of sucks. So i shall start off small. I am going to make some toys for my nieces...

I was looking through my mums craft books, and came across quilted critters...I am only just starting out on this little project :)
So far i have gone to spotlight, chosen out some fabrics, and i am about to start cutting out squares...i only need 30 per bunny rabbit critter, and since im making like 4 of them (one for each of my 3 nieces and one for a friends birthday) i should probably get to it...ill let you know when im further along...

Handbag Issues...

Hey...

My friend made me an awesome handbag a few years back, that i use ALL the time...

Last week however, my sister gave me a few easter eggs to say thankyou for helping her with something, and one of these eggs managed to fall into my handbag. I went to the city, on a hot day, not realising the egg was in there, and so when my keys penetrated the wrapper as they fell to the bottom of my bag, the melted chocolate coated everything...including my keys, purse, brand new twilight graphic novel and the top i had in there to change into later on.

I got home, and washed everything, but there was to much damage to the bottom of the bag, and the melted chocolate stains just wouldnt go away. My mum and i salvaged the pattern, by cutting the seams of the bag and tracing it out onto some paper.

I went to spotlight, and picked out 2 new fabrics to make a replacement bag (as it is the only bag i had that was big enough to use for work). I then set to work on cutting out the material, sewing up the bottom parts, joining the outside 2 pieces to gether, then doing the same with the lining, then sewing the two together. I turned it all inside the right way, through a little gap i left in the lining, and then set about putting it all into the right place. I did a stitch along the tops of the edges, to make sure they stay sitting in the right place...

I also added a little embroidered "K" to personalise it :)

My favorite thing about this bag is that it only took a couple of hours to make, and i can use it whenever/wherever...

Hope you like the bag...

Intro...

Hi all,

My name is Krysten. I finished studying at the end of 2009 and in an attempt to occupy my time, i have started crafting...

This is a sort of journal of my crafting attepts, success' and failures...(hopefully there will be very few failures).

My mum is very crafty, and as a result of this i elarned to cross stitch and use a sewing macinr (very basically) at a young age. I am currently interested in sewing clothes, bags, quilting, etc.

If you have any interesting patterns, ideas or tips please let me know :)

Anyways, im off to start my next project...
